Henry V

About the book

This series presents the complete Shakespearean original texts plus a full, line-by-line, word-by-word, modern English version printed on the facing page. You can read the original first, ignoring the modern version, or using it only when interest or understanding flag. Or you can read the translation first, concentrating on the dramatic aspect to establish confidence and familiarity with the plot, characters and central issues. Each book includes an introductory section which discusses Shakespeare's life, his works, his verse and the theatre for which he wrote. There is also information on the play's date, source and textual history. In addition, practical activities and questions, requiring the use of key quotations guide the student to a fuller understanding of the language, characters and the structure and themes of the plays. This book is on "Henry V".
