The small print — II

Privacy Policy

What we know about you, why we know it, who else touches it, and how to make us stop.

Revised 7 August 2026

  1. I.Who is responsible

Roman Reads, of PWD Block D, Street 23, Islamabad 44018, Pakistan, decides why and how your personal data is used here. Write to info@romanreads.com about anything in this document.

  2. II.What we collect

    • Account — your email address, and a password we never store in readable form.
    • Orders — what you bought, the delivery name and address, and the status of the payment. Not your card number.
    • Reading — which titles are in your library, how far through you are in print or audio, and any marks you leave in a book.
    • Correspondence — what you write to us, and our replies.
    • Technical — the usual server records: IP address, browser, pages fetched, timestamps. Your approximate country, so prices show in a sensible currency.

We do not ask for, and would rather not have, any special-category data — health, beliefs, politics. Please don't put any in a support email.

  3. III.Why we are allowed to

    • To perform our contract with you — taking an order, delivering it, keeping your library and your place in a book.
    • Because the law requires it — tax and accounting records, chiefly.
    • Because we have a legitimate interest — keeping the site up, preventing fraud and abuse, and understanding in aggregate which parts of the site people use.
    • Because you agreed — for anything optional, such as a newsletter. You can withdraw that at any time.
  4. IV.The margin guide

When you ask the reading guide about a passage, that passage and your question are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate the answer.

We do not send your name, email or order history with it. Please do not type personal information into the guide — it is a tool for reading books, and anything you put in a question travels with it.

  5. V.Who else touches it

We use a small number of processors, each doing one job under contract:

    • Supabase — accounts, libraries and reading progress.
    • Safepay — card payments. They handle the card; we receive only the result.
    • Resend — transactional email: order confirmations, password resets.
    • Cloudflare — serving and protecting the site.
    • Anthropic — the margin guide, as described above.

We may also disclose data where the law compels it, or to establish or defend a legal claim. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertising networks.

  6. VI.Where it lives

Our processors operate internationally, so your data may be handled outside Pakistan. Where it is, we rely on the transfer safeguards in our contracts with them.

  7. VII.How long we keep it

    • Account and library — while your account is open, and a short period after you close it in case you change your mind.
    • Order and payment records — as long as tax and accounting law requires.
    • Correspondence — long enough to be useful if you write again.
    • Server logs — a short rolling window, then discarded.
  8. VIII.What you can make us do

You can ask us to: give you a copy of your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or stop a particular use; or hand it over in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it.

Write to info@romanreads.com. We will answer within one month. If you are unhappy with the answer, you may complain to the data protection authority where you live.

  9. IX.Children

This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to info@romanreads.com and we will remove it.

  10. X.Changes

The revision date at the head of this page is when it last changed. Where a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell account holders by email.
